CHANGE

The most constant thing in life is CHANGE. Even the dead change (you could try if you want to find out). But why is it that many of us are afraid of change? Why do we love maintaining the status quo? Why do we love our comfort zone? Well i think it's because we are not given the opportunity of seeing the future(before it comes). Today is all we have, so we tend to remain as "maintenance officer" instead of CHANGE AGENTS. My advise:
Tomorrow will come whether we want it or not.
It's your decision what your tomorrow will look like.

If you dont make a decision, someone will give you one to work with(trust me, you dont want that).
Step out into the dark and embrace change. It's the only guarantee for the future.
You cant expect to get a different result tomorrow if you are using yesterday's techniques today. You've gotta be creative. It's not as easy as it sounds, but with practice, you'll be perfect.

PROMOTION!!!

“You have to believe in yourself, that's the secret. Even when I was in the orphanage, when I was roaming the street trying to find enough to eat, even then I thought of myself as the greatest actor in the world”

-       Charlie Chaplin, Actor

All great individuals that I have known have one thing in common – “SELF LOVE”. You need to develop that “GOOD” feeling about yourself, no one else will do it for you. Remember that old school line….”I feel good, da  da da da da da da….I know that I would now……..so good….so good….”

If you feel good about yourself, it doesn’t matter what any other person feels. Love yourself, love your body shape, love your height, love your complexion, love your background……LOVE EVERYTHING!!

It’s a secret that’ll help you get promoted.

Have a GREAT Day!

HOW TO WIN (II)

“As long as a person doesn't admit he's defeated, he is not defeated-he's just a little behind, and isn't through fighting”

-- Darrell Royal, football coach

Failure is a decision. Decisions are made in the mind. The state of your mind determines the quality of your decisions. The quality of your decisions is a factor of how developed your mind is. Great minds are known to be readers. Readers are Leaders. You start dying the moment you stop reading. Can you see how linked they all are?..........read, read, read..

The decision is yours.

Have A Fulfilled Day @ Work.

Personal Management

Success in life is a product of a well-developed personal management attitude. Personal management on the other hand is better achieved by a good Time Management System. The way you use your time determines the results you get out of life.
Whether or not you're managing your time well is determined by the TASKS you embark upon. The importance/non-importance and/or urgency of the tasks you embark upon will determine how well you're managing your time, and thus the results(positive/negative) that you'll get.

Like Brian Tracy said in his book "GOALS", the most important word in determining the value of a particular task or activity is 'consequences'. A task that is valuable and important is a task that has serious consequences for completion or noncompletion. The greater the possible consequences of a task or activity, the more important it is.

A task for which there are few if any consequences is by definition not particularly important. Your aim in personal management, therefore, is to spend more time doing more of those tasks that can have the greatest possible consequences on your life and work.

PAUSE for a moment and think about how you have spent time in the few days this year has given!! How have you fared? However you have;if well, very good, but if not, then, it's never too late to start doing the right thing. START NOW! Plan your day, Plan your life.
Pursue those goals you've set for 2008. Be committed to them, be serious about them, and be disciplined enough to give it all that it requires to achieve every single one of them.

It's a great day. Go and Conquer Your World!

‘I’ MAKE ‘ME’ RICH

Writing after a very long period of time makes me feel great again – thank God for the little break from work. It is very true that the world of an employee is full of hustle and bustle, which leaves you with little time for other things (especially if you are in the banking sector in a place like Nigeria).

I was on a six-hour journey some days ago and I discovered yet again why the 90/10 rule is still operative. Why is it that 10% of the world’s population control 90% of the world’s wealth, while the remaining 90% grapple for the remaining 10%? Very simple, although wasn’t quite until a few days ago.

It is true that there’ll always be poor people around, and the truth is that they will always be in the majority. Even the Holy Bible says it “there’ll always be the poor amongst you”. I have observed that anywhere there’s a gathering of people, the majority would always be in the lower cadre – there’s always that 90/10 difference.

A lot of people will remain poor for the rest of their lives simply because what they say with their mouths will keep them poor. Every man has to steer the ship of his life by himself; and until you learn to use your tongue to say what you want to see, you cannot get anywhere other than where you are. There’s what is called the ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’. That I will explain to mean that which you have thought and meditated on so much that is now a part of you…it has become a reality in your life. I’ll love to ask you then ‘what are you thinking about that has occupied your mind and all of you? Wealth, promotion, academic success, failures, failed relationships, popularity, prominence, financial freedom, etc? What? I dare you to think about it long enough and you’ll see it become a reality in your life.

I was in the bus traveling with 14 other passengers like me and there were all sorts of topics discussed throughout the length of the journey. But to my amazement, the majority had the mindset that has kept them in poverty for a long time – the mindset of failure. They believed that to be rich is evil. Little wonder they are suffering from acute poverty. They have believed it long enough and have lived it such that it has become a part of them.

The truth is many ‘GREAT’ people will die unfulfilled, never realizing how great they could have been had they changed their reasoning. It’s quite easy to identify an individual who’s going to be successful and one who will not. While the former would always be optimistic in what he does, the latter will be pessimistic. You can always find it in what comes out of their mouth. What they say (what you say) is what they are (what you are) and will continue to be unless there’s a change.

Lesson:
Your life is in your hands, or rather your MOUTH. Say it, See it!

ENJOYING EVERY PHASE OF LIFE

There are phases in the life of every living being, and there are special features and characteristics peculiar to every stage; if their peculiarities are not maximized, they cannot be enjoyed again.

The Butterfly, representing how every living being has its own stages of development, has four stages: Egg, LArva, Pupa, Butterfly. Each of these stages has its own peculiarity. To go to the next stage, the egg needs to completes its own course, and likewise the other stages.

Every stage/phase of life is important as no two days are the same, no two opportunities are the same, and no two individuals are also the same. It is thus paramount that one maximizes the various stops and points in every phase.

I remember there was a time when I was in the elementary school. That phase of my life was one which was primarily governed by my parents, tutors and other grown-ups. Whatever happened in that phase did not really depend on me, but whatever I did or failed to do cannot be recovered or reversed. That was a phase.

There was also a time when I was in the High school (or Secondary School as is known here). This stage was jointly managed by me and my parents. Though I had a bit of freedom, they also still had a great deal of influence over me and my decisions. Then I met a lot of different people, learnt from different types of tutors, and made decisions that would affect my future; positively or negatively. At this stage, which also coincided with adolescence, a lot of my friends took liberty for freedom as they engaged in all sorts of personal and social vices; I won’t blame them now, they were just enjoying that phase.

My days in the University were also very interesting. It was a stage in my life where a lot of things about me were exposed to me. I discovered in myself a great deal of abilities and talents. I met a lot of people who I know will rule the world in our days. I participated in all sorts. In the true sense of it, I had control (90%) of my life and I could do anything I wanted with it. It’s a phase I’ll never forget.

Finally and presently, the stage I’m in now is also peculiar. After the compulsory one year National Service for every Nigerian graduate, my life is completely a factor of what I do with it. What I do now or fail to do now will determine what I’ll meet in the future.

What I am really driving at is this: there are peculiarities to every phase of life and if you fail to enjoy that phase, exhibiting certain behaviour in a higher phase would be seen as immaturity, lack of focus, underdevelopment, etc. For example, there were times in my high school days when I used to join other young lads of my age to play soccer on the street, especially on days when movement is restricted. Everybody could understand then that it was a phase when children played a lot and displayed a lot of youthful exuberance. But if today I choose to do the same thing, I’ll be a disgrace to adulthood, and everything that is me.

Another example is this. In my university days, I participated in a number of the many student protests against the University Authorities. Many times we postponed exams for selfish reasons, we stopped movements in the school by force, we took over the power house of the school, took over the school gate, did a lot of lecture boycotts, etc. All these were peculiar to that stage, and anyone that did not participate then would have missed a great part of ‘education’. Although today am counting the losses caused by the delays and interruptions of the academic calendar due to our protests, I still feel good I did those things then. I possibly cannot do them now, I’ll look miserable.

During my National Service, I was involved in a number of projects and community development activities. The Nigeria Christian Corpers Fellowship which I belonged to also carried out a number of life-changing outreaches to the very rural communities, where a lot of humanitarian activities were done. I’m happy I did. Who knows, I might not have that sort of free time to do all that again. So, enjoying it then was the best option. This is what I mean by Enjoying Every Phase Of Life.

Lesson:
Whatever phase of life you find yourself, enjoy it. Do everything possible to make your impact felt at every stage of your life. Enjoy the leisure times, the hard works, the people you meet, the trying times and challenging periods, the moments of joy and increase, and so on. You cannot have it exactly the same way again- if at all you have that opportunity again.

Life is Good, enjoy it, but make sure you are making positive impact.

SKILL

SKILL
(Your Tool To Great Fulfilment)
It is worthwhile to know that every man has a talent inside him. The only clause is that some men never discover theirs till they die (most times in poverty). But it is much more important to know that your talent cannot make you rich! Are you surprised? If talents make rich, then everyone on the earth’s surface should be rich since everyone has a talent.
The truth is that talent that is not developed is as good as unrefined gold which is worthless at that stage. It is only developed and treated talent that can make one rich when sold. This developed (or trained) talent is called SKILL. Men don’t pay to see your talent, they pay to watch you skillfully and beautifully display your talent in such a way that it meets their needs.
“Your earning is dependent on the level of professionalism displayed in the use of your skill” – laoluojed
Joseph had a talent inside him which he discovered early in life and as he grew, he developed his talent as his experiences taught him. Joseph had a way with dreams, and they were no small dreams; no wonder his brothers were angry at him. They hated him with a passion, such that they planned to kill him – thank God they eventually sold him. But Joseph didn’t call a pity party, he moved on. Even while in Potiphar’s house, he was excellent. Little wonder Potiphar gave him charge of everything he had but his wife. Even Mrs. Potiphar that wasn’t under him tried all possible means to put herself under him. That is a result of the display of excellence, skill and expertise by Joseph.
Joseph went a little further in developing his talent such that even while in prison (where he was the chief and most honorable prisoner), he became the dream interpreter. What more can we say to that? I’m sure you’ll have consulted him for interpretation to your dream if you were living in his days. Skill and expertise took Joseph from the prison to the most exalted throne in the whole world in those days.
Lesson:
Never rely on your raw talent (like a lot of people are doing today); there are probably over two billion individuals have it the same way too. Instead, constantly work on your talents to improve them. Make yourself irresistible, and indispensable. Put yourself in a place where you are in high demand. Make yourself a HOT CAKE in the market.
“Your contribution determines your reward; little contribution=little reward, great contribution=great reward” – laoluojed
